My name is James Jones, but on the radio, for 30+ years, I have been known as JJ McCartney.

I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. As a young child, I was always fascinated by radio, and in the 60's and 70's, radio was changing. AM radio was king, but the FM stations were gaining momentum.

In my very early childhood, I came to know the Lord Jesus Christ. I have studied the Bible, and have grown in my faith over the years, and in recent years, I have come to know that we are living in the late late chapters of human history, and no other mission is more crucial than winning the lost to Christ through outreach, prayer, and obedience to the will of God, and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

I grew up aspiring to be on the radio. I set my sites on the top of the heap in Alaska: AM750, KFQD.

I moved to Arkansas in 1975, and attended high school and college there. That is also when I began my radio career. When I graduated from college in May of 1981, I caught the first jet going to Alaska, and I worked in radio there for the next 14 years, including two stints at KFQD, and several other stations of all types.

I hosted my first talk-show in 1991, and found it to be one of the most intriguing and challenging things a person can do in radio.

In 1989, I married my wife, Susan, and exactly two years later, our only child, Allison was born.

Allison was born with a major heart defect. While this is not the kind of news new parents want to hear, the experiences that we have had since that day have been to the Glory of the Lord. Allison's first major surgery came when she was less than 6 weeks old.

At age two, she had major heart re-constructive surgery, a temporary fix that we were told would buy her time and give her system a chance to grow before we looked at further options. After a tumultuous 18 months of symptoms and side effects, Allison flourished until she was a freshman in high school.

In her sophomore year, she underwent a heart transplant. To try to describe that process here would take too long, but click on this link: www.americanclassreunion.com/allisonspage.htm

Allison is now attending college in North Platte, Nebraska.

When we moved to Nebraska in 1997, I began designing my home studio. With technology, radio can be done from virtually anywhere, and we've equipped ourselves to produce top quality commercials, sports videos, radio commentaries and other original items all focused on the ministry, and most recently, shortwave radio ministry to reach out to the lost and the suffering all around the world.
